The Three Little Pigs

Welcome to term two! This term our theme is Fairy-tales. We will be reading many stories, comparing many stories and even writing our own! This week our big book focus was The Three Little Pigs. As this text was familiar with most students we could really focus on: character; setting; and, problem and solution.

We had a great discussion about problem and solution and came up with many different scenarios. We concluded that the problem in this story was "the wolf wanted to blow down the pigs' homes because he wanted to eat the pigs" and the solution was "the pigs ended up outsmarting the wolf by burning his tail and ensuring he never returns again".

We have also observed that in fairy tales the "wolf" character is often portrayed as the antagonist (bad guy). This is the list we made up so far of fairy tales in which a wolf is the "bad guy":

Peter and the Wolf
The Three Little Pigs
Little Red Riding Hood

I wonder if we will add to this list by the end of the term?
