Our trip to the Zoo

On Monday we took the bus to the Zoo with the wonderful Room 7 and TA1. We had a gorgeous day to explore, engage and learn. Our zoo excursion enabled us to see some endangered animals, learn some interesting facts and HOOK us into learning about our new Talk For Writing text and theme for this term, Zoo.

We were given a "What am I?" task to complete. These clues were read out to us and we had to guess what animal the clues were describing. The clues are below, see if you can guess it before reading on:

We had many attempts and guesses UNTIL, Amelia guessed it correctly (Well done Amelia!).

Then it was discovered our mystery animal was a TORTOISE! and our new text is called
How tortoise got his shell.

We will use this text to imitate, innovate and invent. We will also be reading Esiotrot (tortoise spelt backwards) by Roald Dahl as our whole class text during silent reading. We have already started story mapping and orally rehearsing our text this week. We can't wait for what this term's text has to offer!

An enormous thank you to all the parent volunteers on the day we couldn't have done it without you!

On our way to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo ...

First stop-  African Savannah

Next stop- The Nocturnal House (We did go in but didn't take photos so we didn't frighten the animals/critters inside). This little fellow was on our way out.

 Then- The Asian Rainforest

After that- The Australian Bushwalk

Finally- The Reptile House and Wetlands
